*EMERGENCY CALL TO ACTION*
The current closures of Highways 243 and 74 has already been negatively impacting our ability to provide services for our clients. Recently, it was announced that the roads could possibly remain closed for the next 4 months!
As a result of the closures, many of our clients have been displaced or are now experiencing extended commutes up and down the hill for doctors appointments, work and other miscellaneous appointments. Due to a shortage/lack of funding, we are in dire need of donations/gas cards to aid our clients in this time of need.
Our food pantry is also very low at the moment. We are in desperate need of the following items:
- canned meats
- chef boyardee
- tomato/pasta sauce
- any other non-perishable food items
Thank you so much for the continued support, we can make it through this difficult time as long we support each other! #IdyllwildStrong
Helping those in need by providing services such as: 1 weekly bag of non-perishable food items, firewood for heating, health and hygiene products and when grant funding is available: utility assistance and medical assistance.
In 1992, a small group of neighbors got together to see if they could find a way to help people when times got tough, when there was illness, when there was no food on their table, or when someone needed clothes. Today, the dream of those founders is a reality thanks to the hard work of the Board of Directors, staff, and many volunteers working together to help our friends and neighbors in need. Indeed, the Idyllwild HELP Center currently services the needs of more than 600 people, and the dream to help even more people is still alive and well.
Need Help Now?
Are you in need? The Idyllwild HELP Center may have services that can provide some relief. We can assist in several areas: we have non-perishable food, food vouchers to our local grocery store (based on funding availability), hygiene products, wood for heating, utility assistance that will pay a set amount to your electric or propane bill (based on funding availability), a medical assistance grant that provides assistance with doctor appointments, dentist appointments, help with prescriptions and over-the-counter medical needs, eye exams and glasses, chiropractic visits and gas vouchers to doctor appointments off the Hill (based on funding availability), and the Idyllwild Children’s Fund, which provides assistance with child care costs at Idyllwild Town Hall for working parents, school/winter clothing or help with the cost of Town Hall sports, and seasonal programs.
