Bruce Ross
President

Bruce is a partner in the LA office of the international law firm, Holland & Knight. He has 45 years of experience in estate, trust, and protective proceedings litigation and professional responsibility cases. Bruce is a frequent lecturer and writer on legal topics and authors the premier guidebook for lawyers in California handling probate administration and litigation matters.

Bruce has a long, varied association with Idyllwild, beginning back in the 60’s, recreating, living in, and serving the Idyllwild community – and including rock climbing, serving on the Pine Cove Water District Board, volunteer firefighter, and current owner of the Red Kettle restaurant.  A member of several charitable boards and a frequent volunteer for charitable causes, Bruce is proud to be on IHC’s Board and a member of the Idyllwild Community Fund’s Advisory Committee. He hopes to utilize his expertise in the fields of charitable corporations and charitable giving to benefit the IHC and Idyllwild community.


Ian Schoenleber
Treasurer

A non-profit management professional with 12 years’ experience, Ian advances non-profit organizations and the causes and people they serve through philanthropy, board and donor development, sound fiscal management, strategic planning, human resources, and a dedication to always serving a higher purpose.

Currently, he serves as Director of Development for the Idyllwild Arts Foundation, managing a team of 5.  Ian currently holds the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation, held by less than 5% of fundraisers worldwide, and is currently working towards the CSPG (Certified Specialist in Planned Giving) designation.  Ian volunteers his time on boards: currently, he serves as Vice President of Mountain Disaster Preparedness (MDP), and on the board of the Idyllwild Help Center. He recently retired from the board of Idyllwild Community Fund. 

When not in the office, you will find Ian spending time with his amazing wife, working on his 1-acre property in Pine Cove, mountain biking, gardening, hiking, camping, riding  motorcycles, kayaking and spending time with friends and family.


Anthony Sandrini
Secretary

Anthony currently works as a Fire Management Officer for the USDI Bureau of Land Management, CA-CDD, California Desert Interagency Fire Program.

He has an abundance of training, knowledge and experience with fire management and forestry service and has been working in this field for nearly 25 years both on and off of the hill.

He hopes to encourage the Help Center in its emergency programs and protocols while sharing his perspective and knowledge to provide support in any way he can.


Jara Ruiz-Anchia
Assistant Secretary

Raised in Idyllwild, Jara has seen firsthand all the amazing work the Idyllwild Help Center does for the Idyllwild community and is excited to join the team. 

Over the years, Jara has volunteered for many non-profits including the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, Landmark Heritage Foundation in Berkeley, as well as various political events in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2008 Jara moved to Ubeda, in Spain, where she worked as an English teacher in a primary school and later opened her own English academy, Golden Poppy English Center.

After four successful years, she sold her business and returned to Idyllwild in 2014 and is currently the Associate Director of Admission & Financial Aid at Idyllwild Arts.



Michael Mapel Board Member

Growing up, Michael’s family encouraged him to practice community service and gratitude. He volunteered at the local children’s hospital, built homes for Habitat for Humanity, and taught English as a second language.

He is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Help Center Board. Michael leads the pediatric clinical trials program at UCLA where he has worked for 14 years. He thanks his lucky stars he convinced an Idyllwild girl to marry him. They enjoy walking their dog in whatever direction their daughter’s heart takes them. 



Tamara McFarlane
Board Member

Tamara grew up and went to school in Idyllwild. In the early 90s she moved to Oahu and worked for Marriott’s premier 5 Diamond hotel. She has over 35 years of management experience in the food and beverage industry. During her career, she received numerous awards and accolades. She was hand-picked, from the entire staff, to personally serve President Obama when he had dinner at her hotel in 2011 during the Asian Pacific Economic Convention. She returned to Idyllwild in 2013 and worked at the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage until the pandemic eliminated her job. In November of 2020 she was hired to manage the Red Kettle and is currently working in that capacity. She loves Idyllwild and knows many of Idyllwild’s long time residents from her childhood. She is a problem solver/ team player with proven leadership and manager capabilities and looks forward to supporting the needs of the Help Center.
